Lawrence, Indiana is a small suburb of Indianapolis, the state capital of Indiana. It is a close-knit community that thrives on small Lawrence businesses and the great expanse of Lawrence parks; it is the home of Fort Harrison State Park in addition to eleven other city parks. Education in Lawrence is run through the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township, a subsection of the Indianapolis Public School System. The MSD of Lawrence Township educates almost 16,000 students spread out over twenty one different schools; it is one of the top ten school districts in the Hoosier State. Lawrence Central High School, the main secondary school in Lawrence, is known as a powerhouse of Indianapolis sports and Indianapolis education.
